The only problem? The Thames was full of raw sewage, so the Borough Water Works was set up to clean the water and supply it to the local area. But as it turned out, ‘cleaning’ the water was a bold claim.

This site contained part of the Borough Water Works, including two engine houses, a coal shed, and a carpenter’s shop.
