An aerial survey was carried out in support of archaeological investigations taking place in north Oxfordshire for a residential scheme.
Two flights were conducted, with the first taking place over two 90x30m areas, from which the overlying soils had been removed to reveal sub-surface archaeological features. The second drone survey covered a 40x40m area, in which a prehistoric ring ditch was being excavated.
The overlapping images from the different areas were then processed using Agisoft Photoscan software, to produce 2D fully geo-referenced orthomosaic images, which helped to inform and target further archaeological work.
