Excavations by MOLA at The Royal London Hospital revealed a forgotten cemetery. Investigations exposed 262 burials many containing a confusing mix of bones with extensive evidence of dissection.

Expert analysis revealed the intriguing story about archaeology of this site. The findings inspired an exhibition, visited by 70,000 people.

Subsequent research by our osteologists revealed that in the early 19th century the hospital used their unclaimed deceased patients for dissection practice. This ground-breaking research and the story it revealed were the subject of a blockbuster exhibition at the Museum of London, Doctors, Dissection and Resurrection Men, and a bestseller book of the same name.
