MOLA played host to an important delegation of officials from Henan province, China. The visit of delegates from the Henan Bureau of Cultural Relics, Institute of Archaeology and the Institute of Historic Building Preservation was organised by the Oxford-Cambridge Centre for Advance Management.
Henan has some of the richest archaeological remains in China. Three of the Seven Ancient Capitals of China are in this central province. It is the birthplace of the Neolithic Yangshao and Longshan cultures, and other famous sites include the Longmen Grottoes of the Northern Wei and Tang Dynasties, and the “Historic Monuments of Dengfeng” which include the world famous Shaolin Monastery. Like much of China, the province is undergoing rapid development.
