About TDP

We run a series of fieldwork visits to sites along the river during the Spring and Summer. The fieldwork blocks normally last four to five days and give our volunteers and the TDP team a chance to record archaeology in detail. The hand drawn plans produced during fieldwork are later digitised and help us to build up a picture of change over time. 

The monitoring groups ‘adopt’ stretches of the foreshore that they visit regularly, noting any changes to the condition of the archaeology. The foreshore is a dynamic environment and regular visits give members of these groups an in-depth knowledge and understanding of their patch. 

We run a programme of guided walks on the foreshore for the public throughout the year. These take place at a variety of sites across London. Look out for our walks on our Events page.  

You can also book a private walk with one of our archaeologists. Private walks can be tailored to your groups’ interests and we can accommodate up to 25 people. Get in touch for more information!
